Post Implementation Review

How we can help

Post Implementation Review (PIR)

Have you have finally delivered your major project or are you looking to understand why you’ve had to cancel your project early?

There is a great opportunity at the end of a project to review the approach to delivery, outputs and outcomes – to not only understand whether you’re set to achieve the project’s anticipated benefits, but also to reflect on what the team have done well and where your organisation could improve on the next big project.

A notable reason for ongoing failure of projects is the absence of a Post Implementation Review (PIR) once a project has been completed. The PIR process will help those who have been involved in the project to, openly and honestly and without fear of reproach, review what has occurred and identify opportunities to do things better.

Millpond’s PIR approach is based on many years of experience, with strong facilitation and analysis skills provided by our consultants. We will support you in confirming where your team has done well, and identifying where the organisation can do better.

What we ask you

  • Were the project objectives met?
  • How effectively was the project delivered?
  • What lessons can be learned from the delivery

Discover more about your completed project, your approach to delivery, your operational readiness, and the benefits you have achieved

Millpond’s PIR service includes:

  • A discovery session to discuss the approach and determine scope
  • The review of key documents from throughout the project
  • Analysis of key project processes, metrics and deliverables, including change management and organisational adoption
  • An assessment of project benefits – set, achieved and to come
  • Individual meetings with senior project stakeholders
  • Workshops with project teams and user groups
  • Tailored surveys/questionnaires (if applicable)
  • Recommendations on next steps
  • Documentation and presentation of findings via a PIR report

Information gathered from a PIR will help an organisation improve the project initiation and delivery processes for future projects, and the adoption of outputs by the business.

The review should occur after the project has been delivered and the organisation has had a short amount of time to realise some potential benefits – usually within 2 to 6 months post go-live.
